Foundation Second has continued providing support to families facing difficult living conditions and at risk of separation due to economic and social challenges. Thanks to the generous donation of a kind-hearted citizen, a five-member family under the supervision of the Family and child support service of the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo has now received a fireplace, ensuring warmth and safety for the coming winter.
For this year’s Eid al-Adha, Foundation Second visited a family with six children who have long been part of the support program run by the Family and child support service of the Public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo. This is a family facing difficult living conditions and the constant struggle for survival, placing them at risk of separation.
Unfortunately, we did not find the family at home this time — their relatives greeted us, and we left a package of basic food supplies and Eid meat with them, so the holiday could still be marked with dignity in their home.
Visits like these, which often mean far more than material assistance, are made possible thanks to the members of the Foundation Second Donor Club. Their ongoing support allows us to respond quickly to urgent calls for help, especially when families lack basic food supplies, hygiene products, or firewood.
Through the Donor Club, everyone can choose the monthly donation amount they wish to contribute — with options ranging from 6, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, to 100 BAM, and each contribution carrying its own meaning and value. By completing the form, you can select the projects you wish to support and help ensure that interventions like this Eid visit reach those who need them most.

Even after the festive days of Eid have passed, kind-hearted people remain by the side of those who need support the most. The director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, and the head of the Family and child support service of the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, Amina Pohara, recently visited a five-member family that has long been in the care of this service due to the risk of family separation and unresolved housing issues.
Eid holidays are days of joy, family gatherings, and togetherness. But for some families in our society, they also carry a heavy weight — the weight felt when the holiday arrives and there isn’t even the bare minimum in the house. This was the case again this year for one family in Sarajevo, visited ahead of Eid by representatives of Foundation Second and the Support service for families and children of the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo.
Thanks to the donations of kind-hearted people, this mother and her five little ones recently received two wardrobes, a fridge, a stove, and a TV. With great love and effort, she arranged her rented apartment to make it a warm, tidy, and lively space for her children — despite modest conditions.
Foundation Second has been successfully cooperating for years with the Cantonal Public Institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo and the Social work service, providing concrete and swift assistance to families in crisis in order to prevent the displacement of children into alternative care institutions. Thanks to the funds collected through the Donors' Club, the Foundation has the capacity to respond urgently at moments when help is most needed.

The photo was taken during a trip to Dejčići, where the children enjoyed a moment of relaxation and fun, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Just before Eid, we visited a Roma family included in the Family and child support service program at the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care. The family—consisting of a mother, father, and three children: a girl and two younger boys — is at high risk of separation, especially after losing the home they had lived in for over ten years.
Representatives of Foundation Second, in collaboration with the Mobile team of the Family and child support service of the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, visited six families at risk of separation ahead of the upcoming Eid, bringing them support and joy in the form of food packages.
At the beginning of Ramadan, Foundation Second, together with the mobile team from the Family and child support service of the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, visited a Roma family whose children were recently returned from an alternative care institution.
"I had nothing to prepare for her iftar, so I asked my neighbor for an egg, just to make her some pancakes. And that’s what she broke her fast with," says the mother of a 14-year-old girl who, despite difficult living conditions, does not give up fasting and worship during Ramadan.
Two children from a family at risk of separation, regularly visited by the mobile team of the Family and child support service of the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, spent five unforgettable days at the equestrian winter camp at the Pegasos equestrian and recreational center in Ahatovići during the winter break.
