There are people whose kindness and care cannot be measured in money. People who, for years, quietly and humbly bring light into the lives of others. One of them is a long-time donor of Foundation Second, who continually reminds us how much human kindness can change someone’s day, month, and even life.

Recently, she learned about a family enrolled in the Family and child support service of the Home for children without parental care in Sarajevo. This is a family at risk of separation who, with the support of this service and our Foundation, strives to stay together and overcome life’s difficulties.

When she heard their story, our donor decided to act immediately. She gifted them a sofa, loveseat, and armchair – furniture that will bring them more comfort and warmth in their family moments. Knowing that delivery would also be a problem, she personally paid for the transport to their home.

Then, with a smile and kind words, she handed them 50 EUR – a significant contribution to their household budget to help them get through the coming days more easily.

"This is not just a story about furniture. This is a story about support – about families who are fighting to stay together feeling that they are not alone. Our donors are the ones who, together with us, extend a helping hand where it is needed most. I am proud that the Second Foundation has people who have believed in our work for years and are willing to share their kindness with others," said Belma Mujezinović, Director of the Second Foundation.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. They remind us that every act of help, whether big or small, can be life-changing. Some may say – “it’s just furniture” – but for a family struggling to stay together, it is so much more. It is a message that they are not alone, that there are people who think of them and wish them well.

Foundation Second, in cooperation with the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo and its Family and child support service, continues to help families who need support the most. Together with all our friends and donors, we keep building bridges of kindness.
