Five little ones may soon lose even their mother’s embrace. They are orphans. Their father has passed away, and their mother is left alone — without any family or systemic support.

In the spirit of Ramadan solidarity and togetherness, the Sarajevo-based Malak Regency Hotel joined a growing family of hospitality establishments this Ramadan that chose to brighten the days of fasting for children from the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo. The iftar they hosted was especially dedicated to children from the Small family home in Sokolović Kolonija, one of the smaller units of this institution, where children grow up in a warmer, more family-like environment.

Just before Eid, we visited a Roma family included in the Family and child support service program at the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care. The family—consisting of a mother, father, and three children: a girl and two younger boys — is at high risk of separation, especially after losing the home they had lived in for over ten years.
