Yesterday, the Director of Second Foundation, Belma Mujezinović, held a meeting with representatives of the Foster care service at the Cantonal center for social work, where an agreement was reached to sign a formal cooperation agreement. The meeting was attended by Enes Šabić, Head of the Foster care service, Amra Viteškić, Senior advisor – social worker, and Mirsada Hamzić, Senior advisor – social worker. This significant step represents an expansion of Second Foundation's efforts in supporting vulnerable groups in society.
Foster care is a social protection service that provides children and adults, temporarily or permanently deprived of parental or family care, with the opportunity to live and be cared for in a family environment. Foster parents provide warmth and security, while children and adults in foster care remain until the reasons for their placement are resolved.
During the meeting, Director Mujezinović emphasized the importance of family in providing stability and support, especially for children who, due to abandonment, neglect, abuse, or the loss of parents, are left without primary family care. The discussion also touched upon the needs of adults who, due to disability, illness, or other circumstances, require the care of foster families.
Second Foundation already has experience in supporting foster families, thanks to its collaboration with the Family and child support service at the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care. Through this partnership, the Foundation has implemented various projects, including assistance with housing solutions, furnishing homes, and providing material support to foster families, significantly improving the quality of life for the beneficiaries of this service.
The agreed cooperation will enable Second Foundation to further contribute to improving the quality of life for children and adults through support for foster families and the promotion of foster care as a key segment of social protection. The Foundation plans to provide material support to foster families and raise public awareness about the importance of this humane mission.
Representatives of the Foster care service expressed their satisfaction with the initiative of Second Foundation, particularly as this cooperation will create better opportunities for care and support for foster care beneficiaries.
The agreement between Second Foundation and the Foster care service will be formalized in the coming period, marking the beginning of a new phase of joint activities aimed at providing assistance and creating a safer environment for those who need it most.
