Second Foundation has provided three scholarships of 25 EUR per month for two sisters and their brother of Roma nationality this school year. They are placed in the Small family home at Marindvor, part of the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo.

The Small family home is a residential social protection service that provides 24-hour care for children without parental care in social need. It is the smallest housing unit that allows for better social and emotional bonding compared to large institutions where children are placed according to age. It enables children to actively participate in daily tasks and responsibilities, making life easier to organize, encouraging responsibility, and sharing roles. The goal is for children to grow up with full support in the local community, like most of their peers.

The scholarships, which will be awarded throughout the school year, are intended to cover additional needs not included in the regular care provided by the Home.

The sisters, one in the first grade and the other in the fourth, along with their brother, who is in the third grade, diligently attend school and face the challenges of everyday life in the Small family home. These scholarships will help cover the costs of extracurricular activities and other personal needs not covered by the Home's basic budget.

Belma Mujezinović, the director of the Second Foundation, emphasizes the importance of supporting children in these situations:

"Providing additional funds for children from vulnerable groups helps them develop their talents and interests, so they don’t feel limited in their daily activities due to a lack of resources."
