Last Friday, the Second Foundation organized an unforgettable trip to the beautiful Jahorina for 58 residents of the Sarajevo Cantonal Public Institution "Home for Children Without Parental Care."

"Jahorina welcomed us with open arms—warm and friendly. Until now, my favorite memory of it was under a crisp white blanket of snow crunching beneath skis, but this summer face of Jahorina will stay with me forever. And I believe the children from the Home for Children Without Parental Care Sarajevo feel the same," wrote Belma Mujezinović, Director of the Second Foundation, on her personal Facebook profile.

With the generous support of the management of the Olympic Center Jahorina, all the children and their caregivers enjoyed complimentary access to the mountain’s attractions. From rides on the Nautic Jet, Tower, and Loopster to the thrilling Sky Dive and Tubing, smiles never left their faces.

They spun, slid, flew, climbed, and jumped—over and over again. The staff patiently explained how to safely use each ride and attraction.

The youngest ones had a blast in the children’s park, which was so large and filled with various activities that they didn’t want to leave. Even the older children were reluctant to go.

After their adventure in the Poljice park, the gondola took them to the top of the mountain, where the older and braver ones tried the adrenaline-pumping zipline and off-road karting, while the younger ones enjoyed a peaceful paddleboat ride on the lake. Karting was the most popular attraction, with nearly all the children who could reach the pedals eager to give it a try.

The biggest and bravest ended the day with an exciting ride down the Alpine Coaster, the longest mountain bobsled track in the region, while the others returned safely via the gondola.

“These trips are not just an opportunity for children to enjoy fun and adventures; they are also deeply significant for their emotional and social well-being. Every smile, every spark of happiness in their eyes, reminds us of the importance of providing support and creating unforgettable moments for those who need them the most. For children without parental care, such moments bring joy and a sense of belonging, showing them that they are not forgotten and that they deserve all the best that life has to offer,” explained Mujezinović.

The organization and realization of the trip to Jahorina were made possible thanks to friends from France who recently visited Bosnia and Herzegovina and provided a generous donation to the Second Foundation. Their support has not only enriched the lives of these young people but also created unforgettable moments that will remain with them for a lifetime.
