The "Second" Foundation organized the first educational and entertaining day last Friday in the idyllic village of Ledići on Bjelašnica for the wards of the Cantonal Public Institution "Orphanage for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo." Two years ago, this institution received a house and the corresponding land in Ledići for use from the proBITRA Foundation.

"As part of our project 'Recovery as a Mountain Adventure,' our goal was to provide the wards with a unique experience of learning and fun, allowing them to create lasting memories and enjoy new knowledge," said Belma Mujezinović, director of the "Second" Foundation.

Under the guidance of veterinarian Dr. Emra Hamidović, who gained experience on various farms and exotic animal sanctuaries in South Africa, the children had the opportunity to meet a tarantula, corn snake, Hermann's tortoise, and agamas. All the animals, except the tarantula, were available under supervision, which was an exceptionally exciting experience for the children. Dr. Hamidović patiently answered all the curious children's questions, explaining interesting facts about each animal and their way of life.

"For me, this is a special experience, and I am honored to be part of this story. I was thrilled by the children's knowledge and curiosity in the field of veterinary medicine. I am especially proud of their courage when it comes to exotic animals. Learning to use a stethoscope, the duties of a veterinarian, the difference between venomous and non-venomous snakes, and the diet and lifestyle of each species present is not easy, and these children mastered it in less than an hour. I know I succeeded in conveying part of the veterinary spirit and energy to them, as by the end of the gathering, more than half of them wanted to pursue veterinary medicine as their future. I look forward to meeting again and getting to know new species and new areas of medicine," said Dr. Emra Hamidović, thanking her friend Sara Kovač, who helped her in the preparation and organization.

A special guest of the workshop was the therapy cat Žućo, who had already had the opportunity to interact with the children in various activities. However, this time the children could listen to the cat's heartbeat for the first time using a stethoscope, and Žućo patiently endured all the attention he received from the youngsters.

After the educational part, everyone refreshed themselves together in the nearby pond in Ledići. Cat Žućo surprised everyone present by deciding to swim with the children, adding even more joy and laughter to a day that will surely be long remembered.

This was the first "Educational and Entertaining Day" in the house that the "Second" Foundation partially equipped and insulated together with partners and donors, using the best materials and equipment available on the market.

"I thank all the donors who made it possible for us to start organizing trips and workshops for our children during the summer holidays when they have a lot of free time. We want to use that time effectively, and the workshops organized by the 'Second' Foundation provide children with an excellent opportunity to acquire new knowledge," said Amar Ećo, acting director of the Orphanage for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo.

This educational and entertaining day left a deep impression on the children, providing them not only with new knowledge but also new experiences. With this event, the "Second" Foundation showed how small gestures can have a big impact on children's lives, and everyone present is looking forward to future activities that will bring even more smiles and happiness.
