Sarajevo. The orphanage on Bjelave and their four small family homes in Blagovac, Marin Dvor, Kovačići, and Sokolović Kolonija, were quiet this May 1st.
Empty.
Three buses were enough for the "Second" Foundation to transport their laughter to the "Ribnjak" resort, located at the end of the idyllic Bjelašnica village of Dejčići.
Despite the predicted bad weather, almost 70 children, along with their caretakers, enjoyed an unforgettable outing in nature, lasting until late afternoon.
Some played football, others volleyball, and the rest jumped on trampolines. They were all thrilled with ponies, rabbits, and other animals living on this estate.
The youngest, who had just started walking, enjoyed the baby swings. The caretakers even took them for a walk through the forest, along a beaten path, all the way to a wooden bridge leading to uneven terrain covered with dry leaves.
The caretakers returned the youngest ones to the safety of the resort, while the others continued walking alongside the banks of the River Bijela, crossing bridges from one side to the other, until they reached a beautiful waterfall. The older children helped the younger ones get as close to the waterfall as possible and enjoy its beauty.
On the way back, the older children carried the younger ones, holding their hands and making sure their steps were safe and stable as they crossed through mud and rocks.
They celebrated the end of their adventure with Bosnian specialties such as ćevapi and pita, for which the restaurants at this resort are widely known. Although "Ribnjak" was full of visitors, the children enjoyed the attention of the staff, who made sure they lacked nothing.
An outing to remember, many would agree, and another opportunity for children to get closer to nature, enjoy its beauties, and spend a day in joy and laughter with their caretakers.
