Foundation "Second" announces a project of ongoing charity named Abu Huraira Haven in Sarajevo, encompassing inclusion, rehabilitation, education, training, and ultimately employment and long-term accommodation for individuals from vulnerable segments of society. This sanctuary will be an inspirational space for various activities enriching the experiences of its beneficiaries.

"Through the teachings of Islam, visitors and residents of the Haven will have the opportunity to learn valuable lessons of compassion, gratitude, and resilience. Islamic values such as kindness, forgiveness, and empathy will be woven into their daily activities, nurturing a strong moral foundation. The essence of our Haven lies in the belief that healing encompasses not only physical and emotional aspects but also the spiritual well-being of service users. By integrating Islamic perspectives, teachings, and workshops, our goal is to provide a holistic approach to their rehabilitation, nurturing the mind, body, and soul," announced Belma Mujezinović, the director of the Foundation "Second."

Rehabilitation will also involve animal assisted therapy with the help of cats previously rescued from the streets, healed, trained, and housed within a specially constructed facility. It is well known that such therapy alleviates anxiety, stress, and depression, and improves the mental health of individuals in contact with cats. Representatives of the Foundation "Second" have successfully conducted therapeutic activities in collaboration with various associations and institutions in recent years.

"The reason for announcing the project during my favorite month of the year, the month of Ramadan, comes from the significance of the sanctuary's name. The sanctuary is named after one of the most renowned sahaba who narrated over 5000 hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Abu Huraira, radiyallahu anhu, also known as the 'Father of a Kitten,' was an orphan. He loved cats, children, and his blind mother whom he cared for. He spent four years with the Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, closely following him to memorize and narrate as many hadiths as possible. Encouraging goodness and promoting a thorough understanding of Islamic principles were his constant obsession," explained Mujezinović.

Abu Huraira Haven will offer a wide range of services, including rehabilitation, training, and practice in the area of work-occupation therapy with cats, expert assistance and care, outpatient clinic, workshop space, reading room, pension for owned cats, souvenir shop, and other work and service areas. Furthermore, a detailed action plan and program will be implemented, along with expanding the network of partnerships for the development of social projects and the application of therapy to the following categories of society: orphans, children with developmental difficulties, adults with special needs, persons with post-traumatic syndrome, traumatized individuals, children with educational difficulties, families at risk of separation, single mothers, and elderly individuals.

"In their free time, cats will stay in spaces entirely tailored to them, socialize with visitors at the Cat Cafe, sleep in the laps of students studying for exams in the Cat Read room, and assist daily users of the Cat Office in finding inspiration for work and completing daily business tasks," Mujezinović announced, emphasizing that the space will also have a mosque for visitors to perform prayers in peace.

During the summer months, the activities of the Haven will expand to outdoor spaces that are entirely safe for cats, where events such as outdoor cinemas with educational content and themed gatherings promoting inclusion, rehabilitation, and socialization within a unique anti-stress zone will take place.

In this context, the Haven will primarily engage and employ young people leaving care homes, individuals with disabilities and/or special needs to provide a real practical example of employment opportunities for citizens at risk of socio-economic exclusion and thus directly influence the awareness of society, parents, and children with special needs.

"We are still in search of land suitable for the project's purpose and partners who are willing to support and accompany us throughout all implementation phases. It is important to note that the Abu Huraira Haven project can be fully self-sustainable a year after construction," Mujezinović explained, adding that the Foundation "Second" has prepared a conceptual project and a strategic plan and has the capacity to start implementing the first phase of the project.

To initiate the first phase of the project, land purchase is required. Architect Merima Delić has designed the project according to the vision of the Foundation's founder, Belma Mujezinović. By purchasing at least two dunums of land on the outskirts of Sarajevo (with the possibility of expansion) at a price of 10 EUR per square meter, the project could commence.

"We invite all those who can offer us land for this purpose at this price to contact us, and especially invite those who wish to take advantage of the opportunity for continuous charity during the last, most significant days of Ramadan. This is a project of Sadaqah Jariyah, and by donating to purchase one or more square meters, you will enable the project to come to life," Mujezinović concluded, adding that in later phases, the construction of two additional buildings is planned, one for the long-term accommodation of elderly individuals and the other for the establishment of a kindergarten in a natural environment, for which the purchase of an additional two dunums of land will be required.

Support this noble cause by purchasing one square meter of land at a price of 10 EUR. For each purchased square meter, you will receive a symbolic certificate to your email address as a token of gratitude for your support.
