Last weekend, at the initiative of the "Second" Foundation, a skating school was organized at the Zetra Ice Arena for 10 wards of the "Pazarić" Institution, which provides care for children and adults with various mental difficulties.

Eight of them stepped onto skates for the first time, while two boys already knew how to skate. One of them had previously stayed at the "Home for Children without parental Care Sarajevo" and was thrilled to see a volunteer from the "Second" Foundation, who is still a ward of this orphanage.

"She is like my sister, and I love her a lot," he said as they skated together on the ice.

Instructors from the Phoenix Sports Club ensured that the children took their first steps on skates safely, and the Wolves Hockey Club provided ice time on Saturday and Sunday.

"It does not matter if they learn to skate well. What matters is that they enjoy and are happy," said one instructor who was teaching the youngest boy.

After getting tired, another instructor took him for a ride on a chair across the ice. As he spun him around, the boy did not stop smiling.

Two girls from the "Pazarić" Institution attended both sessions during the weekend, and they were assisted by experienced skaters.

"I am the most senior instructor on the team, at 65 years old. It brings me joy to be able to contribute. My name is Mahira," she joyfully introduced herself to us.

Representatives of the "Second" Foundation prepared packages with fruits, sweets, snacks, and juice for the children, as well as several adults from the "Pazarić" Institution. The packages were distributed after the skating session as a reward for their efforts, to treat them on their way back home.

The "Second" Foundation has signed cooperation agreements with the "Pazarić" Institution and the Public Cantonal Institution "Home for Children without Parental Care". Adult wards of the orphanage are involved in various activities of the Foundation as volunteers to gain experience and prepare for different life challenges upon leaving this institution.
