The "Second" Foundation, with which the Cantonal Public Institution "Home for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo" has a signed Agreement on Cooperation in the implementation of activities to improve work and provide support and assistance to children without parental care, has received a significant donation from the British Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The donation amounting to 13,450.00 KM is intended for the purchase of heating elements necessary to complete the first phase of works related to insulating the facility in the village of Ledići on Bjelašnica mountain. Upon completion of the adaptation, this facility will be used for regular activities in the basic activities of the Home, i.e. for the purpose of implementing program activities aimed at providing support to children and young people without parental care, children and young people with developmental difficulties, and collaboration with institutions to promote social work in the light of the transformation process of social protection institutions.

"We thank the British Embassy for recognizing the importance of this project for children, but also for the broader local community. We hope that other embassies, organizations, companies, and individuals will follow their example so that the voices of children can be heard in this facility as soon as possible," said Belma Mujezinović, director of the "Second" Foundation.

The main house, built in 1922, has a rich history and at one time served as a primary school for children from the area. Today, it represents a monument to the People's Liberation War, as Josip Broz Tito held one of the most important sessions of the Central Committee of Yugoslavia within its walls.

"We have been given the use of this house and its related facilities by the proBITRA Foundation for a period of 99 years. Our wish is to organize camps, workshops, mountaineering, and skiing schools. In the long term, we want this facility to be a place where children from other homes, with a focus on children with developmental difficulties, would stay. Since we have a large piece of land at our disposal, projects are planned to provide children with sports and recreational activities and occupational therapy. However, our current focus is putting the main house into operation," stated Samira Puzo, acting director of the Home for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo.

The next phase includes furnishing the facility with furniture for which part of the funds has been secured and installing a fence, as well as video surveillance for which funds need to be provided.
