The Parent Council of 'Aleksa Šantić' Elementary School in Sarajevo has demonstrated exceptional care and commitment to a family facing the risk of separation, with two out of three children attending the mentioned school. In an effort to provide support, parents managed to raise an amount of 6,701.00 convertible marks, which they deposited into the account of the "Second" Foundation. This noble gesture will ensure the family receives regular monthly support of 557 BAM for the next year.
Azra Čolpa, the President of the Parent Council, emphasized that the initiative stemmed from a deep belief in the power of unity.
"With the desire to collectively create a warm and supportive community, the Parent Council of 'Aleksa Šantić' Elementary School, in collaboration with the school administration, decided to take steps to assist a family facing difficulties. The idea of collecting aid for this family, as well as gathering support in other cases we've organized, originated from a profound belief that together we can tackle challenges and provide support to those in need," said Čolpa.
The goal of this commendable initiative was not only to collect financial resources for concrete assistance to a family in need but also to provide a sense of unity and support that would strengthen the spirit of the school community. Azra Čolpa emphasized the desire to achieve a dual effect – direct aid to those in need and sending a powerful message of solidarity to parents, teachers, and students that will raise awareness of the importance of unity and empathy.
In addition to the "Second" Foundation, which has been providing financial support to the family through donations for some time, the mobile team of the Family and Child Support Service operating within the Cantonal Public Institution Home for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo is actively involved in providing assistance. Amina Pohara, the team leader, highlighted the seriousness of the family's situation due to the father's illness, who was the sole provider for the family.
"Due to deteriorating health, hospitalization, and ongoing treatment, the father is currently unable to earn money for rent, pay bills, and provide for three children, with the oldest boy having developmental difficulties. We hope that in the future, we will all follow the example of selfless dedication and support from the parents and staff of 'Aleksa Šantić' Elementary School, so that every child can enjoy the warmth of a family environment and parental care and love," Pohara said, thanking the Parent Council, the management of Aleksa Šantić Elementary School, and the "Second" Foundation for implementing financial aid and support to this family.
This inspiring action not only provides tangible assistance to those in need but also lays the foundation for a stronger community based on the values of solidarity and empathy. United in good intentions, members of the Parent Council believe they can contribute to making a positive difference in the lives of those who need help the most.
