With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of Wilson, the beloved 11-year-old therapy cat from Sarajevo who had a special affinity for children. Wilson bravely battled a stomach tumor, and his departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
He participated in workshops with the residents of the Orphanage for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo, shining as a star in BHRT's documentary film "Kućica za odmor (Little Holiday House)," directed by Antonela Pehar Šimunović.
Sadly, he did not live to see Mačkambar (Cat Barn), the Center for Emotional Support in the village of Ledići on Bjelašnica. This center aimed to connect children without parental care with therapy cats rescued from the streets, rehabilitated, and socialized.
Wilson left us at the City Vet veterinary clinic in Sarajevo, precisely when Belma Mujezinović, the director of the "Second" Foundation, was signing the first grant from the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton. The grant, totaling 3.000 KM (1.500 EUR), was intended for therapeutic workshops with rescued cats.
"To cherish the memory, I have the messages that children wrote on black cardboard during the workshops in Ledići. Wilson was love, and he will always hold a special place in my heart," said Mujezinović, who rescued him ten years ago when someone left him at her doorstep.
She nursed him back to health, addressing various illnesses that had weakened his frail body, and, in the end, she considered him her own. Wilson's legacy will be carried on by other rescued cats living in Cat Residence, under the auspices of the "Second" Foundation. We invite you to join us in supporting them.
