"Let me go. I'll do it myself. I don't want to be immobile," said 40-year-old Medin as he crawled up the stone stairs to his room on the upper floor of the house.

He lives with his parents in the village of Ilovača, 25 kilometers from Goražde in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He suffers from cerebral palsy, but despite that, he tries to be as independent as he can.

He had a desire to bathe on his own in his upstairs bathroom, which was unsuitable and not adapted for people with disabilities. With the help of donors, the "Second" Foundation provided 1.300 KM for the purchase of necessary materials for renovation.

Even though it took him several months to break everything down and prepare, his retired father managed to renovate the entire bathroom on his own. He couldn't find anyone to help him in this remote village.

Now, Medin can bathe himself. He crawls to the bathroom, sits down, and takes a bath. He has his privacy and no longer depends on his mother to bathe him.

"I crawled slowly and sat down. And I bathed by myself," he explained to us happily as we sat in their yard.
