Thirty older children from the Cantonal Public Institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, led by the institution’s director Muhamed Musić, their educators, and the director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, visited Kapija in Tuzla yesterday. At this place of sorrow and remembrance, they laid flowers and paid tribute to the youth who lost their lives exactly 30 years ago.

In silence, children growing up without parental embrace honored the youth whose lives ended forever at Kapija. This visit carries a profound symbolism — because their lives, though different, bear a similar weight of the struggle for the right to childhood, safety, and a future.

"This is a place that reminds us all how precious youth is. Today, we are here with children who learn every day how important it is to respect the past and fight for a better tomorrow. Their presence at Kapija is a sign that the victims are not forgotten, and that new generations carry a message of peace and compassion," said Muhamed Musić, director of the Home for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo.

This visit was organized by Foundation Second, whose director Belma Mujezinović emphasizes the importance of teaching children about the past and developing empathy.

"Today at Kapija stood children who themselves know what loss means. Through visits like these, they learn to value life, fight for true values, and cope with their own challenges. This visit wasn’t just a history lesson, but a reminder of the duty to preserve the memory of innocent lives, learn from the past, and never forget that no child anywhere in the world should be overlooked," said Mujezinović.

On their way back from Tuzla, the children continued conversations on the bus about what they saw and learned, showing that such moments are not just protocol but sincere lessons that remain in their hearts.

The Second Foundation and the Home for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo have once again shown that caring for children is not only about providing shelter and food, but also about teaching values that shape human beings.
