Foundation Second, in cooperation with the Support service for families and children of the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, carried out another heartfelt initiative by improving the living conditions for a single mother of three, so that her children could be returned from alternative care.
The apartment used by this brave mother was in very poor condition, and urgent renovations were necessary. The Director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, gathered a team of dedicated painters through the popular Facebook group Majstori Sarajevo, who repainted the entire apartment in just two days, refreshing the space where the children will soon find their home again.
Foundation Second covered all material costs in the amount of 150 EUR and additionally provided a donation of basic food supplies worth 100 EUR to help the mother manage the first days after her children return.
The Head of the Support service for families and children of the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, Amina Pohara, emphasized:
"This is a wonderful example of how, by working together, we can create real change in the lives of families going through the process of reintegrating children from institutions. Every act of support for mothers fighting for their children sends a powerful message that they are not alone."
The Director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, added:
"When there’s a will, there’s always a way. I am grateful to the wonderful people from the Majstori Sarajevo group for their wholehearted response and assistance, as well as to our donors who enable us to be where we’re most needed. For children, it is essential to have a home, security, and love — and we will always stand by those who strive to provide it."
This initiative is part of a broader program supporting families in the process of returning children from institutions to their biological or extended families, and Foundation Second will continue, with the help of partners and friends, to provide tangible support to those who need it most.
