Thanks to the donations of kind-hearted people, this mother and her five little ones recently received two wardrobes, a fridge, a stove, and a TV. With great love and effort, she arranged her rented apartment to make it a warm, tidy, and lively space for her children — despite modest conditions.
In the photos she sent us, it’s clear how important it is to her that the place where her children grow up feels like a real home.
The wardrobes immediately found their places in the living room and the children’s bedroom. The mother proudly showed us how she neatly arranged the children’s clothes and bedding, which had previously been kept in bags and boxes.
"Now I finally have a place to keep the children’s things. Everything looks better and tidier. The kids are happy to have their own wardrobe, and I’m happy that I managed to brighten up their everyday life, even just a little," she shared with us along with the photos.
This family is among those at social risk and has been included in the intensive support program of the Service for Families and children of the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, in cooperation with Foundation Second. The program’s goal is to enable children to stay with their mother and grow up in a safer, more dignified environment.
These small changes mean so much more than furniture — they represent dignity, safety, and a sense of belonging. Every piece of furniture, every appliance, and every kind gesture in this home now carries a story and sends a message: they are not forgotten.
Foundation Second will remain by this family’s side, and in the coming days, we’ll continue our appeal to raise funds for utility bills and further furnishing the home.
