Recently, we shared with you the difficult living situation of a mother and her five children, who were left without the basic conditions for a decent life. Thanks to the swift intervention of social worker Abida Pilav and the mobile team from the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, the family was relocated to a safer home. At that time, Foundation Second paid their first month’s rent and launched an appeal to help this family.
Today, we are pleased to inform you that, thanks to generous donations collected through our foundation, we have managed to secure another rent payment of 75 EUR, providing the family with an additional month of security and peace of mind.
From the same donations, a refrigerator and a stove were purchased — items that mean much more than household appliances to five children and their mother. They represent dignity, warm meals, and the reassurance that they are not forgotten.
Thanks to kind donors who wished to remain anonymous, the family also received two wardrobes and a television, making their home more functional and warm. Each of these items means much more to the family than its material value — they are a symbol that there are people who care about them and want to ease their everyday struggles.
"This is yet another proof that when people open their hearts, they can change someone’s life. We thank everyone who recognized the gravity of this situation and chose to be part of the solution. The family still faces challenges ahead, but now they know they are not alone," said Belma Mujezinović, Director of Foundation Second.
The family remains included in the support program run by the Service for support to families and children of the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, as they remain at risk of separation and potential placement of the children into alternative care. Together with the support of kind people, our shared goal is to keep the children with their mother and give them a chance for a safer, calmer childhood.

Our job is not only to intervene in moments of crisis, but to build a system of support that gives at-risk families a chance to stay together. In this case, the support of Foundation Second and kind donors has restored dignity to one mother and security to her children. In the coming period, the priority is to further equip the home with the most essential items and prepare the family for everything that lies ahead.
