Although Ramadan ended at the end of last month, the numerous activities that followed one after another meant that Foundation Second decided to give each of them the attention and space they deserve. Every donation, every iftar, every smile, and every good deed deserved to be told and remembered — because these are the stories that remain.
One particularly heartwarming story is that of the final iftar of this blessed Ramadan, organized at the Home for children without parental care in Sarajevo. It was a night filled with smiles, joy, and collective prayer, with Belma Mujezinović, director of Foundation Second, and Muhamed Musić, director of the Children’s Home in Sarajevo, joining the children for this special evening with his family. Everyone present shared the wish to spend this last iftar with the children, to ensure this Ramadan remains in their memories as a time of care, warmth, and genuine closeness.
Adding to the cheerful atmosphere was a small, feathered friend — a cockatiel, who has been brightening the children’s days for months. Known for its habit of perching on people’s heads, he brought plenty of laughter as the children playfully competed over who could keep this cheerful little bird on their shoulder the longest. In this section of the home, where older children reside, several other colorful pets help bring joy to daily life — alongside cockatiel, a lively budgie and two aquariums filled with fish are also part of their bright and loving little community.
A rich and diverse iftar table was made possible by generous donors:
🍕 Klopa provided the children’s favorite pizzas, with their employees also bringing soft drinks.
🥙 Mutvak donated delicious doner sandwiches.
🍰 Foundation Second made the evening even sweeter by purchasing several cakes from Slastičarna Sendi.
"These children are not only our responsibility — they are our greatest joy. Every Ramadan reminds us how important it is to stand by those without families, to show them they are not alone, and that there are people who care about them and love them. My heartfelt thanks go to all the donors and friends who made this Ramadan special for the children in the home, not only through donations but through sincere presence, attention, and love," said Belma Mujezinović, director of Foundation Second.
As a gesture of gratitude for everything Foundation Second and director Mujezinović have done for the children, the home’s management and children presented her with a beautiful flower basket, handcrafted decoupage pieces created during their workshops, and a large chocolate bar — a touching moment that confirmed just how much the children had recognized and appreciated every kind visit, smile, and shared moment throughout Ramadan.
With this iftar, the Ramadan activities that brought smiles, warmth, and a sense of belonging to children without parental care came to a close. Foundation Second expresses its heartfelt thanks to all who were part of this Ramadan story, showing through their gestures that children without families in Sarajevo are still surrounded by good people and big-hearted friends.
