Nestled on the slopes of Mount Bjelašnica, in the village of Ledići, is a holiday house that children without parental care from the Sarajevo Children’s Home already call their second home. It is a place where nature heals and the kindness of donors creates the conditions for a childhood filled with laughter, safety, and a sense of belonging.

Thanks to a donation of 1.352,40 EUR from the Sami Čamdžić Fund, the house has received another valuable upgrade – fixed glass shower screens have been installed in four bathrooms, made of 8mm thick tempered transparent glass, mounted with stainless steel U-profiles and reinforcements, making the spaces more functional, safer, and aesthetically complete.

This is just one of many final details completing the vision of Foundation Second, which – with the support of numerous donors and in cooperation with the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo – has successfully insulated the house, furnished the interior, and already organized many activities for the children, including winter holidays, weekend stays, and creative workshops in nature.

The property was granted for 99 years of use to the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo by Fondacija proBitra, and the house in Ledići is envisioned as a retreat for summer and winter holidays, weekends, and festive breaks, but also as an essential space for rehabilitation and emotional recovery through time spent in a healthy, natural environment.

“Thanks to the support of the Sami Čamdžić Fund, we are completing another important part of this house. These glass partitions in the bathrooms may seem like a technical detail, but to us, they are a symbol of the care given to every child who comes here. Our little ones deserve dignity, beauty, and functionality – all the things that make them feel respected, welcomed, and happy,” said Belma Mujezinović, Director of Foundation Second.

The holiday home in Ledići is already filled with the footsteps of children, their drawings, songs, and stories. With support like this, it stands as a shining example of how visions become reality – and how dreams turn into warm, tangible places where children can simply be children.
