Five little ones may soon lose even their mother’s embrace. They are orphans. Their father has passed away, and their mother is left alone — without any family or systemic support.
Unless we secure funds for rent — at least for the first three months — the family will lose the roof over their heads. The landlord has already cut off electricity and is demanding they vacate the apartment as soon as possible.
The children are emotionally attached to their mother and want to stay with her. But without our help, their only home may fall apart.
“The family has been under the supervision of the Social Welfare Services for some time now and has also received support from our service. The children are caring, well-behaved, closely bonded to their mother, and deeply affected by the uncertainty they are living in. Our duty is to protect them — but without the community’s support, we won’t be able to,” said Amina Pohara, Head of the Family and child support service at the Public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo.
Foundation Second has so far provided them with firewood, a washing machine, clothing, hygiene products, and food packages — the latest just before Eid.
But now, the most urgent need is to provide them with what matters most: a safe home.
“At a time when children’s homes are overcrowded and families are collapsing under the weight of poverty, we cannot turn a blind eye. These children are not asking for much — just a chance to stay with their mother. Let’s stand by them,” says Belma Mujezinović, Director of Foundation Second.
