The first donation of construction materials for the weekend house in Ledići Village, located on Mt. Bjelašnica, was delivered last month. This house will be used by the wards of the Home for Children Without Parental Care in Bjelave, Sarajevo, for the next 99 years.

The initiative was undertaken by the Foundation "Second" from Sarajevo, and a generous donation of 260 square meters of stone mineral wool was provided by the representative office of Knauf Insulation company in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This material will be used for internal insulation throughout the entire space.

"Knauf Insulation is the market leader in insulating materials in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Therefore, it is only logical that we are also at the forefront of social sensitivity and providing assistance to those who need it the most" - Krešimir Benjak, Head of Marketing and Communications at Knauf Insulation, stated, 'By donating our heat, sound, and fireproof insulation products made of stone mineral wool, we aim to provide children with a pleasant and safe environment throughout the year, while also ensuring significant savings on heating and cooling costs."

The house is a monument to the National Liberation War, where Josip Broz Tito held one of the sessions of the Central Committee of the Union of Communists of Yugoslavia in 1942. It was built by the Miovčić family in 1922, and after the end of the Second World War, it served as an elementary school, from which the first engineer in this area emerged.

To bring back the sounds of children's joy to this historic house, it is necessary to furnish it with suitable furniture and necessary elements for a safe and pleasant stay for the youngest. The donation from Knauf Insulation company has paved the way for other donors who would like to contribute to equipping the house for the children.

"The help of donors is crucial for the project's success. The children would spend their free time here with educators, engaging in various activities during the summer and winter, organized trips, and rehabilitation activities, including animal therapy, which we particularly emphasize," stated Tarik Smailbegović, director of the Home for Children Without Parental Care in Bjelave, Sarajevo.

The Home for Children without Parental Care provides comprehensive care, upbringing, schooling, and healthcare services for children without parental care and those whose development is hindered by family circumstances. Currently, 80 children of different ages are accommodated in five departments within this home, and slightly over 40 of them attend regular or special elementary and secondary schools.

If you wish to participate in furnishing the house, you can do so by making a donation marked "For Ledici," or by providing the materials and equipment necessary to make the building functional.
