The beginning of Ramadan brought warmth and hope to the home of a single mother of a ten-year-old girl, visited by the director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, and the mobile team of the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo. This family, included in the Family and child support service program, received a food package tailored to their needs—a symbolic gesture of solidarity and care.
The mother’s life journey has been extremely difficult. Despite the challenges, she raised two daughters in modest conditions, and the elder one recently got married. Their home, though small, exudes neatness and warmth, with a carefully maintained garden that reflects the mother’s dedication and effort.
“Ramadan is a time of togetherness, support, and compassion. This mother demonstrates incredible strength and devotion in caring for her daughter, and we are here to support her on that path. Our goal is to empower families in difficult times so that children can grow up in a safe and stable environment,” said Belma Mujezinović, director of Foundation Second.
Amina Pohara, head of the Family and child support service at the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, emphasized the importance of such visits:
“Every support to families at risk is a step closer to their stability. This mother is making an enormous effort to ensure her daughter has a normal childhood. Our task is to stand by her and help her in this process.”
This visit is yet another example of how collaboration between institutions and humanitarian organizations can bring concrete change and provide essential support to those who need it most.
