Four girls from the Sarajevo Home for children without parental care visited the director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, to prepare for the arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan. They wanted to be appropriately dressed for prayers and participation in Ramadan worship, and Foundation Second made that possible—giving them the opportunity to choose their first attire for the mosque.

The girls took a trolleybus from the city center to Dobrinja, where they were warmly welcomed by the Foundation's director. During their walk, they reminisced about childhood, the places they once lived, and the memories that tied them to this part of the city.

"I bought my mom a birthday gift in a jewelry store here," one of them said wistfully. "I saved up the money she gave me and then bought her a necklace."

"Somewhere around here was Dedo's Potatoes! The best! You could choose all sorts of toppings," another added excitedly.

After their walk, they arrived at the boutique "Hijab, My Crown," where they eagerly tried on dresses and scarves in preparation for Ramadan.

"They all wanted black. They all wanted the same dresses. They tried on undercaps and scarves, stood in front of the mirror, admiring each other. I barely convinced them to choose at least one scarf in a different color," Mujezinović recalled.

The boutique owner welcomed them with a smile and understanding, offering them a discount and donating several items. Thanks to the donors of the Second Foundation and the boutique’s support, each girl received a dress, two scarves, an undercap, and a prayer rug.

After shopping, they stopped at the popular "Dedo's Potatoes," where they cheerfully chose toppings for their meal. They couldn't resist pancakes either, picking Snickers filling, Dubai chocolate, and raspberry with chocolate from the wide selection. With laughter and full stomachs, they headed to the mosque, where they performed the Maghrib prayer in congregation.

"After the prayer, we waited for everyone to leave the mosque so we could take a few photos for memories," Mujezinović recalled.

As they parted, they hugged the Foundation’s director tightly once again. She saw them off to the trolleybus, watching as they took seats in the back—proud and happy. Although they were returning to the Home for children without parental care, that evening they carried with them something priceless—joy, love, and a sense of belonging.

This post is particularly significant as Ramadan brings an opportunity for spiritual growth and togetherness. With the support of Foundation Second, these girls were given the chance to feel part of the community, to be appropriately dressed for prayers, and to step into this blessed month with pride. Their happiness and sense of belonging remind us of the importance of support, kindness, and sharing joy with those who need it most.
