Thanks to collected donations, Foundation Second has continued to support a single mother who, without any income, cares for five children. This brave woman lived without a washing machine, forced to wash everything by hand, while also trying to meet the basic needs of her children, including a baby just a few months old. To make her daily life easier, Foundation Second provided a washing machine and bought firewood, ensuring warmth and a more dignified life for the family during the winter.
Due to a shortage of firewood, the mother had been heating with just one convector, which resulted in extremely high electricity bills. Despite these challenging conditions, her children helped her wash the clothes, aware of how difficult the task was. When they finally received the washing machine, their joy was immeasurable—they spent the whole day in the bathroom watching the machine wash clothes, thrilled that their daily task had become much easier.
The mother and her children moved to Sarajevo with hope for better living conditions but still face significant challenges. Their situation required immediate intervention, and Foundation Second, with the help of donors, responded to this call.
At the end of last year, support for this family also came from employees of the British Embassy in Sarajevo, who donated a changing table for the baby, bought groceries, clothes, and gifts, bringing joy and relief to them during the holiday season.
Belma Mujezinović, director of Foundation Second, emphasized the importance of solidarity and helping the most vulnerable:
"This mother is doing everything she can to ensure a dignified life for her children. Every bit of help means the world to her. We are grateful to all the donors who made the purchase of the washing machine and heating possible because, with their support, we once again showed that together we can achieve so much. We continue our work to ensure safer and better conditions for this, and many other families in difficult life situations."
Amina Pohara, head of the Support service for families and children at the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, emphasized the importance of continuous support:
"This family is part of our program because they are at risk of separation. Thanks to Foundation Second and the donors, the mother now has the basic conditions to care for her children more easily. Every donation brings us one step closer to keeping this family together and providing a secure future for these children."
Foundation Second invites all donors to continue supporting the "Families at Risk of Separation" project, so we can respond promptly to urgent requests and help families facing difficult life circumstances. Your support can be crucial in preserving families and ensuring better conditions for children who deserve safety, warmth, and love.
