Two children from a family at risk of separation, regularly visited by the mobile team of the Family and child support service of the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, spent five unforgettable days at the equestrian winter camp at the Pegasos equestrian and recreational center in Ahatovići during the winter break.
Fourteen-year-old E. and eight-year-old E., who has mild developmental difficulties, enjoyed all the activities the camp had to offer. Thanks to an anonymous donor, the full cost of one child's stay was covered, while the camp organizer, Tanja Đozo, provided free participation for the second child. Although the youngest member of the family was unable to attend, the organizer promised to secure a free spot for him at the summer camp.
"These camps are not just an opportunity for socializing and learning about horses, but also for developing self-confidence, responsibility, and a sense of belonging. The children adapted from the very first day, made new friends, and showed great courage and eagerness to learn. Our goal is to provide every child with the chance to experience joy and security through initiatives like these," said Đozo.
Foundation Second, which has been collaborating with the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo and the Family and child support service for three years, facilitated the realization of this initiative. The foundation had previously supported this family by providing firewood, furniture, and clothing. The director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, emphasized the importance of continuous support for families facing difficult life circumstances:
"Every opportunity that allows children to step away from their daily challenges and experience something new is invaluable. These camps are not just a break but also a chance for development, acquiring new skills, and creating happy memories. We will continue to find ways to support this and similar families to ensure that children remain together and have a safe and happy childhood."
Foundation Second continues its mission of supporting children and families in need, believing that every act of help, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in their lives.
