Foundation Second has taken another significant step towards realizing the Abu Huraira Haven project in Sarajevo. Thanks to a donation from the Milost Association in Norway, an additional 81 square meters of land has been secured, increasing the total land area to 391.2 square meters.

This project, announced last year during the month of Ramadan, aims to promote inclusion, rehabilitation, education, employment, and long-term housing for vulnerable members of society. The haven will serve as a place of hope, support, and lasting charity.

A holistic approach to rehabilitation and social Inclusion

Abu Huraira Haven will offer a wide range of services, including therapy with cats rescued from the streets and trained to work with users. The positive effects of this therapy on mental health are recognized worldwide, and Foundation Second plans to integrate it into the daily activities of the beneficiaries.

In addition to therapy, the haven will feature workshops, occupational therapy, a reading room, boarding facilities for owned cats, a souvenir shop, and spaces tailored to the needs of various beneficiaries, including children without parental care, people with disabilities, and families at risk of separation.

According to the director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, the inspiration for the haven's name comes from the companion Abu Huraira, known for his love of cats, children, and his dedication to Islamic values.

New steps towards project realization

The donation from the Milost Association in Norway is a significant contribution to Foundation Second's vision. However, an additional 1,608.8 square meters are still needed for the first phase of the project, as the plan is to purchase two dunams of land, or 2,000 square meters.

“We invite all people of goodwill to help us secure the remaining land. This is an opportunity to participate in lasting charity and support a project that will change many lives,” said Mujezinović.
