Heavy snowfall transformed the village of Ledići on Mount Bjelašnica into a true winter wonderland. This idyllic, sunlit scene welcomed a group of children and their caregivers from the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo. For the first time, the children had the opportunity to spend three unforgettable days enjoying winter activities outdoors, as well as creative, educational, and ecological workshops in a house built back in 1922. The house was successfully equipped by Foundation Second, thanks to the generous support of numerous donors.

On the first day, before heading to Ledići, the group enjoyed sledding at Veliko Polje on Mount Igman. Although this experience was exciting, the children were eagerly anticipating their arrival in Ledići, where the process of insulating and equipping the house, donated by the proBITRA Foundation to the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo for a period of 99 years, had taken three years to complete.

"They often asked us, 'When will we finally go to Ledići?' Driven by their desire, we decided to forgo activities in mountain resorts and spend the entire time in the beautiful surroundings of this Bjelašnica village, in a house that has now become their haven for rest, recreation, and rehabilitation. The sunny weather and fresh mountain air allowed the children to enjoy their first extended stay outdoors, which brought great joy not only to them but also to their caregivers, especially considering the months they had endured in Sarajevo’s polluted air,” said Belma Mujezinović, Director of Foundation Second.

The children had the chance to learn about plant cultivation, interact with animals, experiment with states of matter, listen to stories, draw, color, solve puzzles, and participate in various creative workshops that brought them genuine happiness. All these activities were organized by 10 female volunteers from the Volunteer Club of the Bistri Izvor Association, who contributed to this unforgettable experience with great enthusiasm and dedication.

"We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Foundation Second and its director, Belma, in realizing this beautiful idea with a noble and carefully planned goal. The girls, volunteers from our association, were thrilled with the organization and the children they worked and bonded with. The emotions, unique experiences, and impressions from this event are indescribable and will forever remain etched in our memories. We look forward to future collaborations," said Aldina Adžem-Halilović, Coordinator of the Volunteer Club of UOE Bistri Izvor.

Financial support for equipping the house with the essential small inventory for long-term stays was provided by the Sami Čamdžić Fund, the Parents' Council of Fatima Gunić Primary School, and companies such as Magros, Gema, Bristol, Central Park Real Estate, as well as many individuals who made the realization of this project possible.

Thanks to the support of the Federal ministry of labor and social policy, all operational costs, including transportation, eco-grown food, winter clothing, hygiene products, and workshop materials, were covered, making these activities a reality.
