This winter, children and families included in the Family support service program of the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo will not have to worry about basic necessities like warm clothing and footwear. Thanks to funds from the Federal ministry of labor and social policy, snowsuits and boots have been provided to ensure they can spend the cold winter days protected and warm.

One of the families that received this invaluable assistance is a Roma family at risk of separation. The parents face difficulties finding employment, while the costs of education and childcare pose a significant burden. Nevertheless, they are making every effort to provide the best possible care for their children.

This was a special moment for their children—perhaps the first time they received brand-new clothing and footwear. Their joy was indescribable when they tried on their new boots for the first time. Initially, they were worried about whether they could wear them to school, but when they learned they could, their happiness knew no bounds.

The donation was implemented as part of support for non-institutional forms of care, including activities organized by Foundation Second for children at the house in the village of Ledići on Bjelašnica Mountain. This house was granted for use to the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo by proBITRA Foundation for a period of 99 years. Winter clothing was essential for these activities, as some children had previously been forced to spend winters in light and inadequate footwear.

With the support of donors and kind-hearted individuals, Foundation Second has additionally provided basic necessities for families included in this program. Recently, second-hand furniture, clothing, and firewood were delivered.

This aid initiative once again highlights the importance of the Family and child support service of the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, with which Foundation Second has been collaborating for three years. Thanks to the funds from the Federal ministry of labor and social policy and the generous contributions of donors, many children from at-risk families are welcoming this winter with smiles and a sense of security.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this initiative in any way, making a better future possible for these families!
