With the arrival of the last third of the month of Ramadan come its most precious days – days when believers seek special opportunities for goodness, mercy and lasting charity (sadaqah). In this special time, when good deeds are especially valued, Foundation Second continues to organize communal iftars for children without parental care in different cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During this Ramadan, with the support of generous donors, we have already managed to bring joy to children in Sarajevo through numerous iftars and gatherings. However, we also want children growing up in alternative care institutions outside Sarajevo – in Mostar, Tuzla and Zenica – to experience the warmth and joy of Ramadan evenings.

For children growing up without a parental home, these iftars mean much more than a shared meal. They are moments when they feel the care of the community, the warmth of togetherness and the joy that is often missing from their everyday lives. Leaving the institution for an evening, having dinner in a restaurant, receiving a small gift or taking a group photo – these are memories they carry with them for a long time.

Support needed for iftars outside Sarajevo

For several years, Foundation Second has been organizing such gatherings in cooperation with institutions that care for children without parental care. Each iftar is planned so that, at least for one evening, children can step out of their daily routine and feel that they are not forgotten.

In the final days of Ramadan, we hope to organize several more iftars for children from homes in Mostar, Tuzla and Zenica, together with their caregivers who support them every day.
