Foundation Second began this year’s Ramadan activities with a joint iftar for children without parental care from the Cantonal Public Institution Home for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo, which was organized at the Aeroplan restaurant.

This year as well, the restaurant owners fully donated and provided a free iftar for the Home’s residents, continuing their five-year tradition of supporting the youngest who grow up within the alternative care system.
Children from two residential units of the Home attended the joint dinner, accompanied by their caregivers, and the evening took place in a warm atmosphere of togetherness and care. After iftar, several girls, together with the Director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, went to the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, where they performed the Isha and Tarawih prayers, giving this Ramadan evening a special spiritual dimension.

Organizing iftars for children who grow up outside a family environment is one of the programs that Foundation Second has been implementing for the fifth year during the month of Ramadan, with the aim of providing them with a sense of belonging, warmth, and a shared Ramadan experience outside the institutional setting.
“For children growing up in the alternative care system, Ramadan often passes within the daily routine of the institution. That is why it is important for us to provide them with moments that resemble a family environment – a shared iftar, an outing, visiting a mosque, and the feeling of being part of a wider community that cares about them. Thanks to our donors and partners, such as the owners of the Aeroplan restaurant who fully donated tonight’s iftar, we have been able for years to create memories that children carry with them even after leaving the care system,” said Belma Mujezinović, Director of Foundation Second.
Second Foundation extends its gratitude to the owners of the Aeroplan restaurant, as well as to all donors who support the implementation of Ramadan activities for children without parental care and families at risk of separation.

During the month of Ramadan, the Foundation will continue organizing joint iftars for children in residential homes in Sarajevo, Zenica, Tuzla, and Mostar, as well as providing support to families at risk through the distribution of Ramadan packages, inviting all individuals and companies to join and become part of this collective good.
