Foundation Second, in cooperation with the Cantonal Public Institution Home for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo, continued its cycle of professional psychoeducation sessions for caregivers. On December 16, 2025, the third psychoeducation session was held, fully funded by Foundation Second. This ongoing support aims to strengthen caregivers’ professional capacities and improve the quality of relationships that directly impact the well-being of children in institutional care.

The psychoeducation was delivered as part of the programme “The Caregiver as a Key Figure in a Child’s Development”, with this session focusing on professional relationships among caregivers as a factor of safety and stability for children in the Home. As with the previous two sessions, the training was led by Adisa Vrabac, an integrative psychotherapist under supervision for children and adolescents, who, through a structured and practical approach, further empowered caregivers to better understand their role within the team and its impact on children.

During the workshop, it was emphasized that healthy and stable relationships within the caregiver team directly contribute to creating a sense of safety, predictability, and emotional protection for children. Through their daily interactions, caregivers model patterns of communication, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution, which children internalize as part of their emotional and social development. When a team operates based on clear rules, mutual respect, and consistency, children are provided with clear structure and a sense of stability.

It was particularly highlighted that a stable and well-coordinated caregiver team can significantly contribute to reducing challenging behaviours in children, such as aggression, withdrawal, anxiety, and manipulative responses, which often stem from feelings of insecurity or a lack of clear boundaries.

The workshop entitled “Caregiver Relationships and Their Impact on Children” focused on strengthening teamwork among caregivers, understanding how adult dynamics influence children’s emotional states and behaviours, and developing competencies for creating a positive, stable, and supportive environment within the Home. Through discussion, reflection, and practical examples, participants were able to examine their own roles within the team and recognize the importance of shared responsibility in creating a safe environment for children.

This third psychoeducation once again confirmed the importance of continuous investment in professional support for caregivers. Foundation Second remains committed to further cooperation with the Home for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo through the organization and funding of additional trainings and support programmes, with the goal of creating a stable, safe, and nurturing environment in which children can grow, develop, and feel protected.
