In a world where children often face limited opportunities, an eleven-year-old boy from the Children’s Home in Sarajevo has shown how dreams, hard work, and just a little support can bring joy and a sense of accomplishment.

For months, he dreamed of having his very first phone. Although he lost his parents at an early age, he decided not to ask others for help — but to earn it himself. Through small savings from his pocket money, carefully setting money aside, and showing great persistence, he managed to collect almost the entire amount. He was still missing 50 EUR.

At that point, Foundation Second, a long-time partner of the Home, stepped in. Recognizing the boy’s effort and responsibility, they donated the remaining 100 KM. The message was clear: effort and patience are worth it — hard work gets noticed.

The phone arrived recently, and the boy’s smile was priceless. When he saw the director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, he could not hide his excitement. He proudly said, “The phone has arrived!” — with a sparkle in his eyes that spoke louder than words.

“This is not just a story about a phone,” said Belma Mujezinović. “It is a story about a child learning that he is capable, that he matters, and that there are people who believe in him.”

This modest yet powerful story is a reminder that support doesn’t have to be grand to be meaningful. Sometimes, it’s enough to empower a child to feel pride in their own achievement — because that’s exactly when their belief in themselves begins to grow.
