Another twelve-year-old boy from the Sarajevo Home for children without parental care received a free ophthalmological examination and glasses of his choice, thanks to the generosity of Optical Gallery, which responded to a request from Foundation Second.

Although he had never worn glasses before, caregivers noticed that when reading or watching television he often moved very close to the screen—an obvious sign of vision difficulties. Fondacija Second reacted quickly: the exam was arranged, and with the help of Optical Gallery’s staff the boy carefully chose the frames that suited him best.

The appointment was attended by Fondacija Second’s director, Belma Mujezinović, who personally accompanied the boy to Optical Gallery and helped him select his glasses. When the prescription lenses were ready, she took him back to pick them up—where the staff surprised him with a small amount of pocket money.

As they left, the boy immediately asked if he could visit a nearby shop to buy snacks for his friends. He went into a market he used to frequent while living in the Small Family Home in the same neighbourhood—a place full of fond memories—and picked out crisps, juice, and chewing gum to share.

Happy and proud, he returned to the Home, where everyone instantly noticed how well the new glasses suited him—and how much the attention, support, and sense of not being forgotten meant to him.
“For us at Foundation Second, every child matters and deserves the chance to see the world clearly—both literally and symbolically. We are deeply grateful to Optical Gallery for showing the warmth and humanity that exists among us. This boy hasn’t just received glasses; he’s gained an experience that builds his confidence and sense of belonging,” said Belma Mujezinović, director of Foundation Second.
