Thanks to the initiative of Foundation Second, another touching story has found its happy continuation – a girl from the Home for children without parental care in Bjelave underwent a complete ophthalmological examination and received new, modern glasses that perfectly suit her.

The girl had been wearing the same pair of glasses for years – too small and no longer appropriate for her current prescription. Optika Baroš provided her with a free, comprehensive eye exam, including pupil dilation, to accurately determine her diopter and adjust the treatment in preparation for an upcoming strabismus correction surgery. The examination lasted nearly an hour, with great patience, care, and professionalism from the doctor, who approached the girl with deep empathy.

She was accompanied by her younger sister, who was initially afraid of any kind of medical exam. However, thanks to the doctor’s warm and encouraging approach, she also sat down for the diopter measurement – and was happy to learn that her vision is excellent.

After the exam, the girl was given the opportunity to choose frames that matched both her aesthetic and practical needs. She proudly selected a Vogue frame in cyclamen pink with blue temple arms, which suited her face and personality perfectly.
As a reward for her courage and patience during the demanding exam, the director of the Second Foundation, Belma Mujezinović, took the girls out to dinner at Astra Galata Restaurant, where they had previously enjoyed a free iftar during Ramadan. This time, they picked their own meals and ended the evening with a sweet treat – hot chocolate.

Before returning to the Small family home in Marindvor, where they currently live, the girls visited Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque to perform prayer and express gratitude for the blessings they have – for their health, the support of kind people, and every new opportunity that comes their way.
“It’s an incredible feeling to see how much joy a seemingly small gesture can bring. I sincerely thank Optika Baroš and the wonderful doctor who treated the girls with such care and patience. This new chapter for them – clearer vision, a sense of acceptance and support – is exactly what Foundation Second stands for: giving children a second chance to feel how the world sees them, and to better see the world themselves,” said Belma Mujezinović, Director of Foundation Second.
