With these words from a young girl, who after a temporary stay at the Bjelave Children’s Home was transferred to an alternative care institution in another canton, begins a special story about knowledge, love, and opportunities that change young lives.

At the initiative of Belma Mujezinović, director of Foundation Second, a group of 19 children without parental care, including this young girl, aged 4 to 12, from the Bjelave Children’s Home and Small Family Homes, spent the past three months attending weekend classes and workshops at the Bistri Izvor Association. The lessons were carefully adapted to their age, and the children, besides learning, had the chance to play, socialize, and find a calm, safe space for themselves.

Belma Mujezinović, who has herself been attending Qur'an classes at this association for the past two school years, emphasized:

"What I love for myself, and the place I consider my second home, I wanted to share with these children. Their sincere reactions, smiles, and excitement for each coming weekend showed me just how much they needed this experience."

The children eagerly attended every workshop, learning not only prayers and surahs but also good manners, mutual respect, and values that encourage them to become better people. One of the educators from the Bjelave Home, Elmira Pejčinović, noted the noticeable positive change in their behavior, while conversations with the children revealed how attached they had become to the program.

"They were sad when the break arrived. They’re already counting the days until September. The children’s experiences and their desire to continue learning and attending these workshops say more than words," she added.

Foundation Second extends sincere thanks to the children’s mualima, Rumejsa Meco, for her dedication, warm approach, and patience with the little ones. Special thanks also go to Merima Drinjak Rustempašić, Youth Department Coordinator, and Sadžida Skejić, Director of Bistri Izvor Association, for their understanding, commitment, and willingness to quickly arrange a special classroom and teacher just for these children — especially considering this happened near the very end of the school year.

Foundation Second is also deeply grateful to its longtime donor Haris and his friends, who covered all transportation and membership costs for the children, making it possible for each of them to learn in a safe and nurturing environment.

At the end of the school year, the children were awarded commendations for their effort, dedication, and perseverance, which served as further motivation to continue learning and growing in good deeds.

This story reminds us that it takes very little to create something truly meaningful. Sometimes, all it takes is for one heart and one home to open its doors — and within them, many can find a home of their own.
