Foundation Second organized a one-day trip for 13 of the youngest children from the Reception and Nursery Department of the Cantonal Public Institution Home for Children Without Parental Care Sarajevo to the Small Family Home in Ledići on Mount Bjelašnica.

The children spent the day surrounded by nature, fresh mountain air and numerous activities that allowed them to learn through play, develop new skills and enjoy carefree companionship.

Foundation Director Belma Mujezinović was joined in organizing the activities by two volunteers. One of them is a young woman from a family at risk who is enrolled in the Family and Child Support Service program of the Home for Children Without Parental Care Sarajevo, while the other is a beneficiary of the SUMERO organization. Their involvement is a wonderful example of how beneficiaries of different support programs can become active members of the community and help others.

Throughout the day, the volunteers helped care for the children, prepare meals, maintain the facility and organize activities. Their support was invaluable in ensuring that the children could safely and comfortably enjoy everything Ledići has to offer.

Little Helpers in the Kitchen and Garden
A special part of the day was dedicated to working together in the kitchen and garden. Together with the adults, the children explored the Small Family Home garden, harvested vegetables that were later used to prepare lunch, learned about growing food and discovered the importance of healthy eating habits. They watered the plants, learned about different crops growing in the garden and proudly took part in preparing the meal.

After the work activities came what the children had been looking forward to most – playtime. They spent most of the day outdoors, running, exploring nature, riding bicycles, playing with the cats and enjoying the freedom offered by the safe and spacious surroundings of Ledići.

Spending time in nature, working together and socializing are an important part of the rehabilitation and developmental activities that Foundation Second carries out at the Small Family Home in Ledići together with the Home for Children Without Parental Care Sarajevo. Through these activities, children develop independence, a sense of responsibility, social skills and self-confidence, but above all create wonderful memories that will stay with them for years to come.

The children were especially excited to get to know the village and its residents. During the day, they visited neighbours, learned about life in the mountains and experienced firsthand what everyday life is like in a small village on Bjelašnica. They spent most of their time with their neighbour Meho Kustura, whose cows, sheep and goats delighted the youngest visitors. The children carefully observed the animals, asked many questions and enjoyed an experience that many of them had never had before.

Play, Friendship and an Adventure to the Waterfall
Foundation Second extends special thanks to Edib, a driver for Vildan Tours, who once again generously dedicated his time to make the children's stay in Ledići even more enjoyable. During the day, he took the boys to the waterfall in Ledići, ensuring their safety while allowing them to explore the natural beauty of the area.

In addition, Edib spent much of the day socializing with the children through games and sports activities. He played football with the boys, rode bicycles with them and showed how much attention, patience and kindness can mean during a single afternoon. Moments like these create the most beautiful memories and remind us how important it is for children to spend time with adults who offer them attention, support and genuine friendship.

Foundation Second thanks Vildan Tours and Edib for their continuous support of activities carried out for children without parental care and families in need.

For many children, days like these are an opportunity to experience the warmth of a home, a sense of belonging and togetherness. This is why Foundation Second continues to develop activities that provide children with a safe environment for play, learning and growing up.
