As soon as temperatures rose slightly and the road became more passable, one van and two cars set off toward the Small Family Home in Ledići. While one group of children from the Bjelave Children’s Home enjoyed the snow, fresh mountain air, and winter joys, the older group had a work assignment.

The work was led by the Director of the Sarajevo Home for Children without Parental Care, Muhamed Musić, and the Director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović. Two caretakers, Mustafa and Eldar, repaired and fine-tuned details around the house, arranging the space to be as functional and comfortable as possible for the children. The public relations associate, Alisa, helped in the kitchen, while the driver, Semir, and the children assisted with carrying materials into the house—showing that a sense of togetherness and responsibility is also built through work.

Children and adults together cleared snow and the access path to the house, ensuring easier and safer entry. The girls additionally cleaned and tidied the interior, paying attention to every detail. At the same time, everyone took care of the cats who, as always, arrived right on time for their meal—they were fed and petted, as caring for animals in Ledići is an integral part of everyday life and learning empathy.

The plan for the day was to receive a delivery of part of the materials for the Mini Mačkambar, a small space intended for sheltering and caring for cats. However, due to terrain conditions, the truck could not pass beyond the entrance to the village. The situation was resolved through improvisation—Foundation Second’s vehicle served as an alternative, and the Home’s Director successfully transported the materials to the house. The remaining materials will be delivered as soon as weather and road conditions improve, after which the craftsman will begin the planned work.
Step by step, the Small Family Home in Ledići is preparing for a new season. The first visitors of the year are expected soon, and they will find peace, nature, and a space for rest, learning, and recovery—exactly what the mountain and shared effort can offer.
