Yesterday, Ledići once again became a home for smiles, hugs, and small but meaningful victories of childhood. Foundation Second organized a day trip for seven children from three families currently facing social risk. As the air filled with the scent of elderflower and mountain freshness, the little guests laughed, played, ran – simply, they were children.

The excursion was joined by professional staff from the Public institution home for children without parental care Sarajevo: Head of the family and child support service Amina Pohara, psychologist Vesna Stanišić, and Head of the Bjelavko Daycare Center, Samira Puzo. Together, they spent a day filled with play, conversation, support, and warmth.

One single mother, a brave woman raising three children on her own, finally had a moment of respite. Another family with two children helped prepare the food and maintain the space – all together like one household, where smiles and the smell of barbecue softened the weight of everyday struggles.
This time, the barbecue was prepared by the janitor of the Home Mustafa Hrvat, who gladly took on the task and, with a smile, cooked for everyone present. His presence and effort added to the warm, homelike atmosphere.

The children spent most of the day playing, swimming and diving in a small pool, bonding with animals, and exploring nature. They were especially delighted by the cold mountain stream running through Ledići, where they eagerly refreshed themselves and discovered its hidden corners. With joy, they waded through the water, observed pebbles, plants, and insects, enchanted by nature’s simple magic.
And it didn’t take long before they asked: “When can we come again?”

For almost all of them, this was the first time they had felt the mountain air, played without fear, and been surrounded by adults who looked at them with care and tenderness.

Belma Mujezinović, Director of Foundation Second, who personally organized the entire day and spent it with the families, shared her thoughts:
“When you see children running freely for the first time, laughing without worry, your soul fills with peace and joy. These days are not a luxury – they are a necessity. Ledići has become a place where children and parents come to breathe freely again. I am grateful to the team from the Home for their partnership, and to our donors who make this possible. Every smile belongs to them.”
Amina Pohara, Head of the Family and child support service, added:
“Watching these children connect, explore, and enjoy every moment shows just how much days like this mean. They were overjoyed and already asking when they can return. Their eyes were full of hope and happiness.”
Yesterday, Ledići became more than just a weekend getaway – it became a symbol of support, unity, and a childhood slowly being restored to those who deserve it most. Foundation Second will continue to open the doors to moments like these, believing that every child has the right to carefree laughter and a safe place under the sun.
