As the scent of blooming elderflowers fills the mountain village of Ledići, the children and team of Foundation Second are working tirelessly to prepare for the upcoming trip. Over the past few days, we’ve been picking elderflowers for homemade juice, whose refreshing taste—like always—will be remembered for its summer aroma and the care with which it was made. Alongside nature, friendship, and homemade drinks, we are preparing another special experience for the children who will be visiting us.

This week, we will host nine children from families at risk, who are included in the Support service for families and children at the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, and who regularly attend the Bjelavko Day Center. Accompanying the children will be Amina Pohara, head of the Support service, Vesna Stanišić, psychologist, and Samira Puzo, head of the Day Center.

As in previous visits, a family at risk—whom Foundation Second has once again engaged with a symbolic compensation—will take care of the warm, welcoming atmosphere. They have already demonstrated remarkable responsibility and commitment, from preparing barbecues and lunch to organizing the house and greeting the guests. Their involvement not only helps create a cozy environment, but also strengthens their parental role.

The program in Ledići is led by the Director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, who will once again be present with the children and team.

"Each visit to Ledići is a new opportunity to show the children that they are important, loved, and that they deserve attention and a chance to grow up in a healthy, natural, and safe environment. I am especially happy that we are involving parents from at-risk families in the preparation and organization—this adds extra value to everything we do," said Belma Mujezinović.

A stay in Ledići is not just a getaway—it’s a valuable therapeutic and educational opportunity for children facing challenging life circumstances.

"Our trips to Ledići are not just an escape from everyday city life—they are an important form of support for children coping with difficult situations. Every child deserves a chance to feel what childhood truly is, and through activities like these, we help make that possible," emphasized Amina Pohara, head of the Support service for families and children.

With homemade elderflower juice, mountain views, and the support of caring people, another stay in Ledići promises to give children cherished memories that will warm their hearts.
