Foundation Second proudly presents the first scholarship recipient within the 2025 scholarship program. After launching our scholarship fund last year and supporting the first generation of scholarship recipients, this year we continue the program with new boys and girls to whom we want to provide support, stability, and space for growth.
Our scholarship recipient this year is a ninth-grade student — a calm, hardworking, and responsible boy. His caregiver, Munevera Smailbegović from the Small family home in Marijin Dvor at the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, says that he is equally loved by both his peers and teachers.
“He is in the ninth grade of elementary school and is very well-liked by both his classmates and teachers. He is a good student — responsible and communicative. He lives in an apartment with his two brothers, while his mother, two other brothers, and sister live in their family home. He readily participates in all household activities, always willing to help, attentive, and considerate toward other children. He loves football and trains twice a week at FIS. He also attends makteb classes at the Magribija Mosque. He uses the money he receives to buy clothing, go to the cinema with friends, or get sports equipment and gear,” said Smailbegović.
He uses his scholarship thoughtfully and responsibly — mostly for clothing, sports items, or an occasional cinema visit with friends. These are small but very important moments that allow him to feel equal, motivated, and included.
The monthly scholarship for children without parental care is 50 KM (25 EUR), which is modest but highly meaningful to a child. It provides a sense of security, personal choice, and the reassurance that someone cares for them and supports them.
