The Director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, visited the family of a single father together with the mobile team of the Home for Children Without Parental Care Sarajevo, as part of regular activities supporting families at risk of separation.
The family consists of a single father and his two sons. The mother left the family several years ago. The father is unemployed and faces serious health issues and limited mobility, which prevent him from finding work. In everyday survival, he is supported by his mother as much as she can. Paying the rent is the priority, while very little often remains for food.
During this visit, Foundation Second provided a food package for the family, helping to briefly ease daily uncertainty and ensure basic meals.
The boy, who had already drawn attention during the previous visit with his savings jar, brought a different jar this time. This showed that he is trying to do things differently and learning how to manage what he has. Thanks to an anonymous donor, an additional 25 EUR was added to the jar during this visit.
When asked whether he had managed to spend the previous amount, which had been planned to last fourteen days, as agreed, the boy honestly replied that he had not. He spent the money earlier because his younger brother often asked him for money.
During the visit, while members of the mobile team spoke with the father about the current situation and further steps of support, the Director of Foundation Second spent time with the boy practicing reading.
The visit was also attended by Amina Pohara and Vesna Stanišić from the Family and Child Support Service of the Home for Children Without Parental Care Sarajevo.
During the conversation, the boy was also given a message from the anonymous donor — if he is regular at school and continues to make an effort, she promised to buy him a drone, the one he had spoken about earlier.
Foundation Second will continue to monitor this family and respond according to needs on the ground, in cooperation with the mobile team of the Home for Children Without Parental Care Sarajevo.
