Ahead of Eid, representatives of Foundation Second, in cooperation with the Family and child support service of the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo, visited a single mother whose children had recently been returned to her from an alternative care institution. This modest family is trying to rebuild their lives, and in such moments, the support of the community holds immeasurable value.

Accompanied by Amina Pohara, Head of the Family and child support service, Director Belma Mujezinović brought a package of essential food items, hygiene supplies, and food for the youngest boy, who is currently battling pneumonia.

Unfortunately, upon arriving at their home, they found an empty refrigerator — which only confirmed how necessary this help was, arriving at just the right time.
"No child should spend the holidays in hardship. When we learned the fridge was empty and the youngest child was sick, we immediately decided to act. Thanks to the donors and friends of the Foundation, we managed to provide everything they needed at that moment. This family is now trying to get back on their feet, and it’s important for them to know they’re not alone," said Belma Mujezinović, Director of Foundation Second.

The mother was especially happy to receive honey, which her youngest child needs, while the little ones were overjoyed with the watermelon they tasted for the first time this year.

"The return of children from an institution to their biological family is always a delicate process that requires a lot of patience, effort, and systemic support. This family is on the right track, but interventions like these are essential to help them maintain stability and provide the children with a safe and dignified upbringing," emphasized Amina Pohara, Head of the Family and child support service at the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo.

Foundation Second continues to support families in crisis, especially those fighting to keep their children in a safe family environment. Eid is a holiday of togetherness and solidarity, and this visit was a reminder of how little it takes to mean so much to those in greatest need.
