If you have been following our stories from Ledići, you may have already seen her in some of our photos. Her name was Bona. She lived in Ledići, and our children got to know her at the Kod Nesiba restaurant. Whenever we visited Nesib, she was there. Of all the dogs, she was the most affectionate, the gentlest, and always ready for the children's hands to pet her.

For our children, she became part of Ledići. Part of what they looked forward to whenever they returned.
For them, stays at the Small Family Home are not just about trips and the activities we organize. Ledići has become a place where they know the people, the animals, the paths and the little rituals waiting for them whenever they return.
Bona was one of those rituals.

Recently, Bona was hit by an SUV in Ledići. The driver did not stop. He did not even turn around.
The people who cared for Bona did not give up – they took her to the vet several times and tried everything they could. But her injuries were too severe.
Sadly, Bona did not make it.
It is especially painful to think about the next time the children visit Nesib. About the moment when they will look among the dogs for the one who always came up to them and let them hug and pet her.

We will have these photographs to remember her by. The children's hands on her fur, the complete trust she placed in them, and the memory of an incredibly gentle animal who became part of our children's beautiful memories of Ledići.
And so, through this story, we would also like to make one request to everyone driving through Ledići and other villages: please slow down and be careful.
Cars are not the only ones on these roads. There are children, dogs, cats and other animals too. A few seconds of carelessness can take a life and leave behind an empty place that others will notice for a long time to come.
Goodbye, Bona.
Our children will miss you.
