The Small Family Home in Ledići has long been more than just a place where children find peace, safety, and space to grow up surrounded by nature. In recent months, it has also become a place regularly visited by wild rabbits.

During the winter, when heavy snow covered Ledići and the nights were quiet and cold, our surveillance camera captured unusual visitors. The rabbits would arrive in pairs and feed on pruned apple tree branches that had been left beneath the tree after pruning.
In the snowy silence, they would approach cautiously, stopping to listen to every sound before carefully moving together toward the branches in search of food during the harsh winter days.
Few people know that wild rabbits often move in pairs, especially during colder periods of the year and mating season. They stay together for safety, because while one eats or explores the surroundings, the other watches for potential danger. Rabbits are extremely shy and cautious animals and rarely approach places where they do not feel safe.
That is exactly why their visits say so much about Ledići itself.

Where there are rabbits, there is usually still peace, shelter, and preserved nature. Wild rabbits play an important role in the natural ecosystem – helping maintain natural balance, contributing to the spread of plants, and forming an important part of life in mountain areas.
These days, we once again spotted a rabbit during the morning as it ran through the village and passed by the Small Family Home. Its appearance brought special joy, reminding us how alive and untouched nature in Ledići still is.
Through scenes like these, children staying in Ledići learn something that cannot be taught from books – that nature should not be conquered, but respected and shared with other living beings.
Perhaps that is exactly why Ledići carries that special silence and feeling of safety felt by both people and animals.
