As meteorologists announce the first significant snowfall in the mountains, Foundation Second is pleased to share that this weekend, as soon as the snow settles, we will be taking children from the Cantonal public institution Home for children without parental care Sarajevo to the Small family home in Ledići.

This trip represents much more than a simple day in nature. For children growing up in an institutional environment, every visit to the mountains gives them the chance to breathe deeply, rest their minds, and experience a sense of freedom that is often missing in the city. Ledići, surrounded by silence and pine trees, is a place where children rediscover the joy of play and carefree moments.

The plan includes winter games in the snow, walks along nearby trails, warm drinks, socializing, and plenty of laughter — but also the most important part: the sense of belonging and safety that the Small family home provides.

We extend special gratitude to the Federal ministry of labour and social policy, which covers the ongoing costs of the children's stay in Ledići. Their support ensures that children have a safe space throughout the year for rest, rehabilitation, and spending time in nature — something deeply important for their emotional and social development.

Foundation Second continues its mission to provide children without parental care with moments they will remember for a lifetime — meeting the first snow, enjoying nature, new experiences, and the feeling of truly belonging.
