Five children from the Small family home in Marijin Dvor, together with their educator, Emira Makarević, spent five unforgettable days in the village of Ledići, in a house that the Home for children without parental care Sarajevo received for use from the proBitra Foundation for a period of 99 years. Foundation Second provided transportation and food for this stay, allowing the children to enjoy without worry and fully experience the beauty of life in nature.

The days were filled with simple yet precious activities – they picked apples, explored the village, spent time with animals, rode bicycles, and played board games such as “Don’t get angry.” Instead of mobile phones and screens, they discovered the joy of companionship, play, and laughter. The children also helped with everyday chores: cleaning the house, preparing meals, and in doing so, learning the value of togetherness and responsibility.

One day, other educators from the Home joined them, and a barbecue turned the gathering into an especially joyful and relaxed occasion. After a whole day spent outdoors, the children went to bed early and woke up early, well-rested and full of energy for new adventures.

The stay in nature gave them more than play and fun. Fresh mountain air and life in a rural setting positively affect health, strengthen immunity, reduce stress, and encourage creativity. Time spent outdoors helps children develop concentration, better moods, and a sense of connection with their surroundings. In Ledići, they experienced—if only for a while—the freedom and carefree spirit of childhood that every child deserves.
