Before returning to their homes, the girls without parental care who had spent three days at the Small Family Home in Ledići visited the nearby village of Ostojići. It was another special moment of their stay in the mountains, filled with prayer, discovering new places, friendship and enjoying the beauty of nature.

After days spent gardening, preparing homemade meals, playing with animals, hiking and enjoying time together, the girls from the Sarajevo Public Institution for Children Without Parental Care and the Small Family Homes in Sokolović Kolonija, Blagovac and Marijin Dvor concluded their stay on Bjelašnica with a visit to Ostojići.

Ostojići is a small mountain village in the Municipality of Trnovo, located on the eastern slopes of Bjelašnica at an altitude of approximately 1,020 metres above sea level. Surrounded by breathtaking mountain landscapes and neighbouring villages, it is a place where nature, tradition and the peaceful rhythm of rural life come together.
Praying Together at the Ostojići Mosque
The girls' first stop was the Ostojići Mosque, where they performed their prayer together. Built in 2006, the mosque stands out for its distinctive architecture and scenic location, serving as an important centre of worship and community life for local residents.
Entering the mosque after several meaningful days in Ledići brought moments of peace and gratitude. Their shared prayer was an opportunity to reflect on everything they had experienced together and to give thanks for the friendships, new experiences and precious time spent in nature.
Visits like these allow children not only to discover new places but also to learn about the religious, cultural and social traditions of different parts of their homeland. At the same time, they strengthen their sense of belonging, respect for local communities and appreciation of the values that guide everyday life.
A Panoramic View of Ledići and the Surrounding Villages
After visiting the mosque, the girls stopped at a scenic viewpoint offering a spectacular view of Ledići, the surrounding mountains and neighbouring villages. From there, they were able to look back at the place that had been their temporary home from an entirely new perspective.

They took group photographs to preserve memories of three unforgettable days filled with learning, teamwork, nature and togetherness. The panoramic landscape before them beautifully illustrated how closely connected the villages of Bjelašnica are and how much natural beauty can be found just outside Sarajevo.
The viewpoint also marked a symbolic ending to their stay—a final opportunity to look back at Ledići, the garden where they worked, the yard where they played and the home where they cooked, talked, prayed and shared countless special moments.
A New Friend at the Viewpoint
While enjoying the scenery and taking photographs, the girls were joined by a big grey cat that happened to wander by. Having spent the previous days caring for and playing with the cats living in Ledići, they immediately welcomed their unexpected furry visitor.

The curious cat happily accepted their attention and affection, bringing even more smiles to the day. This seemingly simple encounter became another cherished memory the girls will carry with them.
Spending time with animals helps children develop kindness, empathy, responsibility and respect for all living beings. That is why these encounters with cats, both in Ledići and Ostojići, were much more than play—they were valuable life lessons experienced firsthand.
Returning Home with New Memories
The visit to Ostojići marked the conclusion of another memorable stay at the Small Family Home in Ledići. The girls returned home with new knowledge, practical skills, friendships and lasting memories.
During their three-day stay they worked in the garden, harvested vegetables, helped prepare lunch, baked homemade bread from spelt, buckwheat and rye, spent time with animals and local children, visited the waterfall, met cows and sheep, explored mountain trails and prayed together in Ledići, Dejčići and Ostojići.
Each of these experiences offered an opportunity to learn about independence, hard work, faith, togetherness, nature and caring for others.
This is the very essence of the Small Family Home in Ledići, which Foundation Second operates in partnership with the Sarajevo Public Institution for Children Without Parental Care. These stays are much more than short trips away from everyday life—they provide children with a place where they can explore, learn, develop new skills and build a genuine sense of belonging.
Sometimes, the most beautiful memories are created by nothing more than a breathtaking mountain view, a prayer shared together, the laughter of friends and a big grey cat that appears at exactly the right moment.
