On the first day of Eid al-Adha, the director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, visited an at-risk family into which six children were reintegrated from alternative care institutions at the end of last year. The visit was carried out with the approval and in cooperation with the Service for Support to Families and Children of the Cantonal Public Institution Home for Children Without Parental Care Sarajevo, which continuously monitors and provides professional support to this family.

Five of the children had previously been placed in the Cantonal Public Institution Home for Children Without Parental Care Sarajevo, while one child had been staying at the Educational Center of Sarajevo Canton.
During the visit, the family received food packages, Eid gifts, and qurban meat donated by one of Foundation Second’s donors. Although the qurban had initially been planned to be distributed to several addresses, the difficult living conditions in which the family currently lives showed just how much this kind of support means to them.

Every time we visit this family, we find an almost empty refrigerator. That is precisely why visits like these are not merely symbolic Eid visits, but real and urgently needed support for a family that struggles every day to provide basic living conditions for their children.

A particularly emotional moment during the visit was the meeting with the girls who, over the past months, had attended activities at the Bistri Izvor Association together with the director of Foundation Second. Since then, a special bond has been formed between them, and their reunion on the first day of Eid was filled with long hugs, smiles, and sincere childhood joy.

The director of Foundation Second, Belma Mujezinović, emphasized that encounters like these are a reminder of how important it is to invest in preserving families and to provide support to children and parents when they need it most.
"Children do not remember how much something cost, but how it made them feel. Today, these children felt that they were neither forgotten nor alone. The hugs with which they welcomed us speak louder than any words. At-risk families often fight daily, silent battles that most people never see. That is why it is important for us as a society to be a source of support and to do everything we can so that children can grow up with their families, in a safer and more dignified environment," said Mujezinović.
Foundation Second will continue, together with partners, institutions, and donors, to support at-risk families with the goal of preserving families and preventing the institutionalization of children.

We thank all donors whose trust made it possible for this Eid to bring someone a sense of security, dignity, and the warmth of home.
