The Small Family Home in Ledići was visited today by Midhat Kerla, Director of the Educational and Rehabilitational Center of Sarajevo Canton, together with his colleagues. They came to collect the key and familiarize themselves with the facilities ahead of the arrival of the children, who will spend three days in Ledići starting tomorrow. The guests were welcomed by Belma Mujezinović, Director of Foundation Second, which jointly manages the Small Family Home in Ledići and its activities for children together with the Sarajevo Home for Children without Parental Care.

The visit was also an opportunity for the representatives of the Educational and Rehabilitational Center to see how much Ledići has changed and developed. The children from the Center first stayed in Ledići in August last year, and since then, significant work has been done to improve the house and the grounds and to create new facilities and activities for children.
The Director and his colleagues could not hide their surprise at the changes they discovered. They were particularly pleased with the improvements to the grounds and the new outdoor area, which will allow a significant part of the activities with children to take place in nature during the warmer months.

However, a particularly delightful surprise was the cats that now live in Ledići and the space created especially for them. The mini cat shelter has become an integral part of this place, while spending time with and caring for the cats is increasingly becoming part of the activities we organize with children.
Our aim is for children to develop a sense of responsibility, empathy and care for other living beings through interaction with animals. At the same time, the cats give children an opportunity for spontaneous interaction, play and the development of a special bond with animals. For this reason, activities with the cats will also be part of the program during the upcoming stay of the children from the Educational and Rehabilitational Center.
The children, accompanied by the Center’s professional team, will arrive tomorrow and spend three days at the Small Family Home. During their stay, they will have an opportunity to step away from their everyday urban environment and spend time in nature through shared activities, socializing, caring for the house and the cats, and taking part in activities tailored to their needs.
Our cooperation with the Educational and Rehabilitational Center of Sarajevo Canton is part of our commitment to making the Small Family Home in Ledići accessible to different groups of children who can benefit from this type of experience. Every improvement and investment in Ledići therefore has the same goal – to create a safe, functional and supportive environment where children can learn, develop independence, spend time in nature and create lasting memories.
